Everything old is new again! But smaller.

Getting Kodi/DLNA to work with the Roku was a non-starter, and, amazingly, the following morning Jenny asked me how to get podcasts on the Roku.… Read the rest

That’s gonna leave a mark

Tonight after work, I went to the basement and gathered a few tools that I would need in order to bang out the door for the fort. By the time I got to the backyard, however, my plans had been changed.… Read the rest

It’s all over but the shouting

I think, and I could very well be wrong, but I think I am done with the main structure for the fort.

The painter showed up bright and early this morning. She was sober this time, which was a plus. She stained the gangplank, then knocked out the unpainted half of the front wall, then got started on the light blue of the inside.… Read the rest

Gangway for The Mighty Roof!

Or something like that. The hardware for the gangplank came in. As I was heading into The Big Orange Store, I spied that someone posted to Amazon that they used 2x10s for their ramps. Sold.

Three walls makes a fort

I did not get the two sheets of plywood, as I was not feeling the lashing of said plywood to the roof of Jenny’s Outback.… Read the rest

Fort follow up

Take a guess what I did this weekend?

Yup. More fort building. Was aiming for 3 walls completed, if not mounted, by quitting time Sunday, but I only got 2.75 done.

I am out of Titebond III and 2.5″ screws and couldn’t see masking up to go to Big Orange for these meager supplies when I am going to need oh so much more next weekend.… Read the rest

Weather Station

So, out of the blue, my father emails me asking if Calin might enjoy a weather station. I figured he had an unused one that he found while cleaning out the house. I am fairly certain I have seen an unused weather station in that house before.… Read the rest

Python

I am very far behind on this and I have many, many blog posts to write, but this is what I did tonight.

I am currently reading “Automate the Boring Stuff With Python” (this is basically a required text), taking the Python course on CodeAcademy.comRead the rest

Zork 2017

I am working my way through Zed Shaw‘s “Learn Python the Hard Way“, which is both a book with a DVD containing videos of each of the lessons and a web site that does not have the videos.… Read the rest
