Or something like that. The hardware for the gangplank came in. As I was heading into The Big Orange Store, I spied that someone posted to Amazon that they used 2x10s for their ramps. Sold.
I managed to hit joist while trying to secure the gangplank to the deck. Nothing a lag screw won’t fix, but I am not going back to the store again today.
Installing the roof was interesting. I used this guy’s method of cutting the panels.
Worked freaking awesome, and I got to use my oft ignored multitool…which is not a Dremel. If you ever do this, or I ever do it again, make sure to get the sine wave type mounts. Honestly, that one run of the sine wave stuff saved my bacon. The install is good, especially for my first time doing this type of thing, but not great. I need to get some silicon up there on the first panel. Learning curve and all that.
But, yeah. My goal was the roof and the gangplank for today. Check and check. I looked for screen material, but I just couldn’t convince myself to buy 48″ wide stuff for 24″ windows. I could have justified the 36″ stuff, but they were sold out! In fact, the shelves at the store are starting to go bare. I heard a guy looking for decking. Saleschap checked the mega-database and told him that the closest store with decking was Westerly! I looked for hinges for the door, too. Black 4″ tee hinges are just about perfect. Entirely out. The more I looked for stuff, the more I saw they were out of.
25′ garden hose in any “duty” rating: out of stock.
50′ in medium: out of stock.
75′ in medium: out of stock.
Soaker hose adapters: nada.
Four wheeled garden weasels: HA!
Etc, etc.
Kind of weird for how busy the place was.
But the fort is looking awesome. Jenny is going to get that last section painted blue, and I also picked up some white for the trim work, which I have to finish installing on the front wall. And, as I type this, Jenny may have scored a slide…that is 50 minutes away from here.
