HOWTO Update Portainer

I’ve set up my Portainer servers slightly differently than the official docs. They map to port 9443 and I map to port 9000. No big whoop, but it will stop me dead.

This is what it should look like:

user@docker:~$ sudo docker stop portainer
portainer
user@docker:~$ sudo docker rm portainer
portainer
user@docker:~$ sudo docker pull portainer/portainer-ce:latest

Summer Vacation 2023

Legoland in Upstate New York. Definitely a good time.

The park was much larger than expected, and it is built on the side of a mountain, so it was easy getting to the lower level early in the day, but oh so rough coming back up at the end!… Read the rest

The 179 Days of Deodorant

How festive! A holiday deodorant update. God, I love this blog.

Anyway, yeah, 179 days to get through my last jar of Pretty Frank Seaside Activated Charcoal deodorant. Summer and the lessening of the COVID resulted in this veritable sprint through the jar.… Read the rest

What I Did on My Mid-Summer Vacation: Day 4

Plan for the day was to limp my broken butt out to the yard and get the three beams in place and leveled. While having breakfast, Lowe’s had other ideas.

Son of a biscuit!

So, obviously, there is no longer a rush for me to get the beams in place.… Read the rest

What I Did on My Mid-Summer Vacation: Day 3

If I had a late start yesterday, I was even more delayed on the third day.

First, I was informed that “the family” had decided that they wanted ad-blocking turned back on on the pfSense firewall. I was told to turn this off several months ago.… Read the rest

What I Did on My Mid-Summer Vacation: Day 2

Definitely feeling my age, I got started on Day 2. The day’s goal was to clear the platform and assess the leveling situation. Stretch goal was to get the three 4″ x 4″ x 12′ pressure-treated beams on site. Of course, there were delays in getting out in the cool part of the day, so it is a good thing that I like heat.… Read the rest

What I Did on My Mid-Summer Vacation: Day 1

I took the week of August 1st off in order to build a new shed in the yard. The old shed had a leaking roof and was, generally, falling apart. In order to build the new one, I had to clear the old one out of the way.… Read the rest

I’m going to be pretty frank here…

Pretty Frank Seaside Activated Charcoal deodorant freaking rules!

I finished up the last jar yesterday, 248 days after I opened it. Sure, there was the odd day or so in there where I was offensive even to myself, but, for the most part, it has been smooth sailing.… Read the rest

Like Frankenstein’s Monster, Just Zap It With Electricity

Electricians are arrived at the house at about 8:00AM. Told me it’d be about four hours to install the 240-volt from the circuit breaker panel to the outdoor heat-pump. They were done a touch past 10:00AM.

I turned the Nest thermostat, which drives the oil burner, down to 58F and ran around setting the head-units to 66F.… Read the rest
