Bored at werk…must be time for a blog update

Things have been slow at werk of late. Too slow.
I am used to being busy the whole time I am here: 7:30AM to 4PM.
But, lately, things have been just dead.
I won’t have anything to do until 8 or 9, if I get anything, and then I won’t have anything else to do the entire day.
So I sit. And read the news. Lots of news. So much news…

Last week I brewed up 20 gallons of Pale Ale. It wasn’t actually as hard as I expected it to be. Four 5 gallon batches. I did three on Saturday and the fourth on Sunday. They are all bubbling away nicely at present. I’m sitting behind the stinking wampa at werk right now, otherwise I would insert a picture and a vid or two. But, things are going swimmingly on the beer front. I didn’t go all-grain. I chickened out Saturday morning and decided I would leave my first attempts at all-grain brewing to my taste buds alone and not something as important as the beer at my wedding! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA! This weekend will be 20 gallons of porter. I have to start the yeast propagation up tonight for this (worthy of another picture). I’ll be using the yeast that I cleaned from the last batch of porter. God, I hope that works! The homebrew shop is not open on Sunday or Monday…

Jenny and I bought our Android phones last week. I forget what day. Thursday maybe? Mine has been kicking it large ever since. GPS navigation, music playing via Bluetooth in the car, surfing FB, reading news…so much news…a billion apps installed, tried, removed, GPS tracking, taking photos, shooting video, etc. You name it, I’ve done it. So, I am not shocked that my battery gets hit pretty hard. But Jenny may have a lemon on her hand. She’s had endless issues, some of which have been PEBKAC, but some are just unexplainable. I really wish these LINUX-BASED phones had a syslog app. I need to check the logs on her phone. Me thinks there is an issue. Just yesterday, after charging the phone all night, she used it for about 2 minutes on the train in the morning, then left it in her coat pocket the rest of the day. When it came time to check what track the afternoon train was on (we get a text message), she found the phone stone cold dead. She popped the battery, as I had to do a few days earlier, but it was just DEAD. I plugged it into my laptop and about 20 minutes later it picked up enough of a charge to boot. The battery showed 5%. That can’t be good. I’ve verified that we have the exact same settings (some were a bit squirrelly on hers when i checked) and I am waiting to hear how today goes for her. Doesn’t help that Verizon is going to release the Android 2.1 update today. Who knows? Maybe that will fix what ails her phone!

St Patrick’s Day, yadda yadda, sober studying Irish history and Gaeilge. Wednesday is a dumb day for a drinking holiday.

I set up a new website that I will never really do too much with. http://www.matthannan.net/
It is a Google Apps (Basic) site. Now I have three personal email addresses on two different Google accounts. I do really like the new email address (himself at matthannan dot net), so I may move over to that at some point after the wedding…which my fancy new web site tells me is in 79 days.

Well, I think that is about it. All the big stories from my life over the last couple weeks. It isn’t even 11AM yet. I guess I’ll get another cup of coffee and get caught up on the news…

Hmmm…I don't really understand the purpose of the new site, either (nice clean css/design, though). I use google cal, docs, analytics, adwords, adsense, reader, google code, google shoeshine, etc., etc., but having them incorporated into a more or less personal site…I don't get it.
I have a public google cal embedded in my work site (http://baldwinlinguas.com/cal.html), but I don't even really use that. I should post project deadlines on it, or something.
I built a page on google sites, just to try it out (http://sites.google.com/site/baldwinlinguas/) but couldn't really figure out how useful that was going to be (since I have sites up on other hosts). I suppose if I had no other sites, I could do stuff like post resume, professional profile, etc. Or the naked photos of your mom…or is that against google policy?
Anyway, this concept of "google apps site"…don't get it.
