First go at Astrophotography with an iPhone

Mars is in opposition TONIGHT. And it is the closest it has been in 15 years, when it was the closest it had been in 63,000 years!
Of course, I have clouds. Some crazy storm system has been marching across our sky for about a week now and is currently dumping flood-inducing rain on a parched Ireland.

So, this is mainly what I was dealing with.

But I did manage to catch a few decent shots…at high ISO.

Never saw even a hint of Mars.

Things to remember about shooting the Moon:

  • lowest ISO available
  • adjust expose until Moon looks grey
  • set FOC (focus) to 100 (infinity)
