Pretty Frank Deodorant Update

It is that time again. Not every post here is about computer parts or star pictures. We tend towards the biological from time to time, too.

It has been 150 days since I received my jar of Pretty Frank Unscented Magnesium Natural Deodorant.… Read the rest

The Cold Moon – Last Full Moon of 2020 (Dec 29)

With the last full moon of 2020 approaching, I had the thought that I would give astrophotography with the Astronomers Without Borders OneSky telescope another go. I re-read the first, I don’t know, 20 pages of the world-famous forum thread for this mighty, little scope at Cloudy Nights.… Read the rest

OneDrive on Linux, Revisited

You may recall that I managed to get OneDrive running on my main Pi with the goal of uninstalling the OneDrive client from the Windows machines and just running everything via a mapped drive to a SAMBA share.

This has been…mostly working.… Read the rest

Pi4 NAS

I just bought a 4GB Pi4B kit!
I went with a Labists kit this time, rather than the standard CanaKit. I recently discovered that I had “earned” a $50 Amazon gift card on one of the HR sites at work, so that came in wicked handy.… Read the rest

Perseus at 50mm

After a Thanksgiving Day of clouds yesterday, I happened to glance at my Clear Skies app and saw that the skies would clear at 8:00PM, so I jumped into my new Carhartt insulated overalls and headed out. It was warm enough that I didn’t need the overalls, but they were comfortable.… Read the rest

Running Plex on an Atomic Pi: a follow-up

I was thinking about a post to tell you about how the new Atomic Pi Plex server was working out. Splendidly, thanks for asking. But we did have an issue this evening that I was afraid would eventually pop up.

The Atomic Pi has been entirely stable.… Read the rest

Finally caught M31 and M33 together. Plus Cassiopeia with M103

I finally got a good shot of M31 and M33! So happy.

I have a much larger version, should you be interested. In that one, you can see that I was starting to capture the arms of M33, but I really like the spikes on Mirach (the star in the center of the picture).… Read the rest

M31 and M33 again

Revisited the sky last night after a period of inactivity due to rain, snow, clouds, and/or cold. It was nice to be outside again. Tried to get M31 and M33 in the same shot.

Because I was unable to see my two main targets, I was unable to properly frame the shot.… Read the rest

Pretty Frank followup

I’ve raked the yard two days running and took a shower after today’s session. Neither pit was ripe. In fact, it wasn’t until nearly the end of the shower when I finally caught a hint of something from the Piper Wai pit.… Read the rest
