One Year with Rooftop Solar

On Dec 23, 2020, I was finally given the OK to flip the switch to bring our eleven panel solar system online. It has been a learning event, for sure, this past year. The main thing I have learned is that we needed that spruce tree (at right in photo) removed, the consumption monitoring CT clamps installed, and five additional panels installed.… Read the rest

Pretty Frank Charcoal Seaside Deodorant FTW!

191 day! That last jar lasted 191 days! I could not be happier with this deodorant and have told several friends about it on the Facebooks. Thank you, Pretty Frank (formerly Primal Pit Paste), for this awesome product.

I was happy to see that the plastic cover has been replaced with metal, and the scent, which my wife finally noticed a few weeks back, has been dialed back a bit.… Read the rest

Beginning of the End? NTP Server Migration

A few weeks back, we had an unexpected power-outage at the house. As the Raspberry Pi does not natively have a real-time clock built into it, this plays havoc on the network. Somehow, NTP and DNS are linked in this space.… Read the rest

Importing Old DV tapes

COVID lock-down has driven me to start importing old DV tapes. The computer I am using for that is my old jobber. It has Firewire built into the motherboard. Once I get all of the tapes imported, I am going to rebuild this box as an OPNsense router.… Read the rest
